How Many Of The Internet’s Users Are Fake

Phishing bots, hacking tools and website scrapers are just some of the so called ‘users’ of our world wide web that have no physical human controlling their every click. Billions of these user impersonators crawl the net for a plethora of devious reasons. This isn’t something new though, bots have been fooling our algorithms for decades.

Between 2012 and 2013 the number of bot traffickers increased by 21.5%. That’s when bots began to take over as the majority user of the web. These fake users now represent 61.5% of all internet patrons. Your social media outlets are not safe from the crawlers either. Around 10% of users across all major social media outlets are fake accounts.

The rise of the bot isn’t going to slow down anytime soon. The battle between anti-bot engineers and the world of hackers and spammers will never cease. It’s just a matter of time to see who gains the major advantage.
